Typewriter and Fruit Machine

Hi parents,

I used a "No Hands Up" teaching strategy in the class when I ask questions. That way it will prevent myself from always picking the eager . high progress learners but also give the quieter pupils a chance. I used the  above online tool to randomly select pupils to answer questions . All will then have to pay attention cos they don't know when their names will be called. They are always very excited when I turn the fruit machine wheel. They were curious and asked me how  I created it. So here it is.....

Hi pupils of 1E,

May of you have asked me how I created the Typewriter and Fruit Machine Random Name Picker when I used it in class. You said you wanted to type in your family members' name.

As promised, here is the website, if you would like to try it , you can get your parents to help you set it up.

Have fun!

With love,
Mrs Ow Yong

Working with Tangrams

We worked with our tangram sets again 2 weeks ago.

Each class were to select 2 pupils for the Interclass Tangram competition. I am pleased to announce that Lucas Kum has done our class proud by coming up first in the competition.

The tangram set is an optional item in the book list. If you have purchased it for your child, may I encourage you to let them play with it during the June holidays.

Here is a web link on the Benefits of Tangrams for your reading pleasure.

Lyrics

North South East and West.
Let's get this party groovin'
North South East and West.
Let's get our bodies movin'
North South East and West.
Let's get ready and go ...
Whoa ...
I could climb a steep volcano.
(Ooh ah, Ooh ah.)
Or journey to the sun (Whoo)
Discover hidden treasures (Ooh).
Our adventure has begun (Yipee)
Come with us and take a trip.
Come with us adventuring
Follow your dreams. Follow your heart.
Follow the journey, make a start
North South East and West.
Let's get this party groovin'
North South East and West.
Let's get our bodies movin'
North South East and West.
Let's get ready and go
Whoa
I could wear my cowboy boots "Howdy, partner".
Kick my heels up high (yee-hah!)
Take off in a big balloon (woah).
And float across the sky (wow)
Come with us and take a trip.
Come with us adventuring
Follow your dreams. Follow your heart.
Follow the journey, make a start
North South East and West.
Let's get this party groovin'
North South East and West.
Let's get our bodies movin'
North South East and West.
Let's get ready and go
Whoa
North South East and West.
Let's get this party groovin'
North South East and West.
Let's get our bodies movin'
North South East and West.
Let's get ready and go
Whoa

Performance Task- Length

This Thursday, our class will have their Performance Task on Ordinal Numbers and Length .

They will be required to use paper clips to measure the lengths of given items and compare the lengths.

Following are some slides that might be helpful for you as you support your child at home.

We had a round of practice today in class to get them ready for this Thursday's task. We measured our name plates and a postcard.
